Here are some frequently asked questions:

And here are some answers:

Are there membership fees?

CSA’s originally arose as marketing techniques that enable farmer’s to share the risks of growing crops with the members. We ask that all members pay a $50.00 non-refundable deposit at the beginning of the year which will help to fund variable costs associated with the beginning of the season. All of the deposit can be used throughout the season (like an account) and orders will be deducted from the balance, so essentially you will be getting $50.00 worth of produce for the deposit. Other than this, there are no associated membership fees.

Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?

Unlike some co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of stuff (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it), with Locally Grown you get to order what you want, in the quantities that you want. The weekly email lists the produce available that week, and you can browse the items on this website before you place your order.

How do I order?

Starting now, we will be changing our pick up times to Friday from 4:30 to 6:00. Ordering will be opened up on Monday and then closed Thursday afternoon.

When do I pay?

As a member of the CSA, you will already have made a deposit of $50.00 at the beginning of the season. This will be your initial account balance from which each order will be deducted. Once you have used up the deposit money, you may either add more money to your account (preferred) or pay for each weekly order.

We accept cash or checks WHEN YOU PICK UP YOUR ORDER, however, the most convenient method of purchasing would be to make lump deposits and avoid having to deal with transactions each week. Make checks payable to: KSU Willow Lake Student Farm.

Why Support Locally Grown?

Convenient access to high quality produce: Our produce is typically harvested the day of or the day before deliveries are made, ensuring that you are receiving the freshest produce possible.

You are paying for a service: In addition to providing fresh produce, we hope that you will feel free to ask any questions you have regarding our farm or using the produce. Weekly newsletters will be distributed (on request) and include farm updates, recipes, important dates to keep in mind, etc.

We will continually ask for feedback regarding the web service, produce that we grow and address any issues that might arise during the season. Our hope is that you will be satisfied with your membership and be encouraged to stay with us next year. Your input and satisfaction are valuable to us!

Provide learning opportunities: Locally Grown supporters provide member growers the means to help educate our community about the importance of developing a sustainable agriculture.

Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.
